Covering you with God's Word, keeping love warm
The Vision: The Journey begins…..
TruthFabric was born out of a need. The need to give Christian parents the option of covering their children’s bed with the Word of God and a True Bible Character.
First thing in the morning and last thing at night, children would see the Truth and be able to read the Word. And at night, to sleep under the Word of God!
If any parent wanted to buy a duvet cover for their child with Spiderman, Batman, Barbie etc. then they could, simply walk into any supermarket and there they are.
But why should Bible-believing parents not be able to buy what they consider to be the Truth for their most precious children?
The Vision began one day while Paul was in the bathroom and in walked his 18 month old son, Gabriel, wearing nothing apart from a pair of red Spiderman underpants that someone had given his wife! Paul’s spirit was immediately impacted with the question, “Why can’t my little boy wear Joshua, or Gideon or David on his undies, and not these fantasy comic hero caricature?”
The Bible says that eternity is born into the heart of every child. What the world gives are fictitious characters, super hero’s that defeat evil, and against all the odds come back from the grave to defeat the baddy at the eleventh hour. What each child is searching for is the one true hero, Jesus Christ.
So we give them that! From the earliest age!
From the initial bathroom episode with Gabriel the consolidation of the Vision was a slow, yet steady, step by step process.
After Paul explained the Vision to the Pastor’s wife at his local church, she gave Paul the idea of talking to a young Christian woman who had a very artistic gift. Paul phoned Laura (pictured above with some of her students) later that same day, and explained the Vision; to give Christian parents the option of being able to put Scripture and a godly Bible character on their children’s beds. Laura immediately responded with enthusiasm, and pledged her whole-hearted involvement.

Now let’s just go back two or three weeks….
Paul had met Pastor Robert Mophet from India at a large Christian Summer Camp that year. The two men had come out of the same morning meeting, and had begun to speak together as they walked along. In the direction of their tents.
Pastor Mophet had shared with Paul his burden for the children of India., since he had begun an orpahange and Christian School in Trivandrum, South India in 1999. The two men listened to each other’s heart for children and had encouraged each other, had shaken hands and then parted.
Whilst driving home from the camp, Paul had begun to think about Pastor Mophet and his burden for the children of India, and told the Lord that he would like to help with the need. Paul began to cry with joy as the Lord impressed upon his heart the number 20,000! “How”, cried Paul, “can I help 20,000 children in India?”
A short while later, Gabriel had strolled into the bathroom in his red Spiderman underpants….
Now, it took several months for Laura and Paul to decide upon the characters to be included in the first set of duvet covers and pillow cases, and how they were to look. Laura was very compliant to Paul’s ideas, and began to work on the brief Paul had given her. The picture of Esther for example, had to “look like what every Mum wants her daughter to look like on the day of her wedding; pure and beautiful.

During this time, Paul wrote to Pastor Mophet now back in India, and explained the Vision of making duvet covers and curtains for children’s bedrooms. Paul didn’t have Pastor Mophet’s current address, so he’d had to send the letter through his contacts at Kingdom Faith Bible School where Pastor Mophet had attended two years previously. So the letter was first posted to the Bible College and then the Bible College forwarded the letter on to India.
Several months went by when out of the blue, Paul received a phone call from Pastor Mophet who was in London, on a Fund Raising Mission. His purpose to the U.K., to raise funds for the Christian School, Bible School and Orphanage that he and his wife, Mini began in 1999 in South India. Harvest Mission.
Over the phone, Pastor Mophet told Paul that he had received his letter sent from Kingdom Faith and that he had one night free in his busy itinery. He asked Paul if he could travel from London to Paul’s home in Louth, Lincolnshire to talk and pray about this Vision Paul had? Of course! Paul met Pastor Mophet at the bus station, drove him back to his nearby home, and the two men spent the night sharing and praying about the TruthFabric Vision. Early in the morning, Pastor returned on the bus to London. The two men’s hearts had been knitted together. The Vision was remarkably and miraculously coming together!

In September 2007 Paul took five start-up duvet designs to a large, local Christian Camp, Grapevine. Paul spent several afternoons rushing from caravan to caravan showing and discussing his designs with parents, grandparents and children.
Asking the people their opinions on the designs, what kind of prices would they want to pay etc. Paul was listening to his market, and adapting his ideas to suit. But the overall response was always extremely positive!
So Paul decided to take it one step further, and ask these people who said they liked the idea to support him by sponsoring a trip to India. Having the duvets produced over there would surely be much cheaper. With Pastor Mophet his Christian contact in India, surely that would serve as an advantage; to get the duvets produced ethically and at a lower cost. More people would be therefore able to afford them for their children.
Such was the response, that within two months Paul had £800 towards the airfare! Sponsorship had come from Christians, and non-Christians, individuals and Churches, both in the U.K. and in Spain. It seemed many people believed that the idea would work!
A close friend suggested to Paul that he should have meetings set up in India with cotton/textile manufacturers prior to his departure from the UK. It would be such a shame to go all that way and find no-one in! So Paul contacted Pastor Mophet and asked him to do some ground work; to contact any such Christian textile producer(s), they knew and arrange appointments for sometime in November.
However, Pastor Mophet and his wife had no idea who to contact. So they prayed.
The next day they were contacted by a Christian cotton producer who made Gospel T-shirts, enquiring if Pastor Mophet wanted any t-shirts printing for Harvest Mission?
“Maybe,” he said, “but we do have a friend coming out from England in November, can we make an appointment for him to come and see you?”
And so an appointment was set up, and Paul flew out from Heathrow in November 2007.
Arriving in India was wonderful. Pastor Mophet and his wife really honored Paul in their house, and he felt privileged to be to seeing firsthand the amazing work God is doing through Harvest Mission.
During Paul’s one week stay, Pastor had one free day to take Paul on the 16 hour, overnight train journey to the Head of the Gospel T-shirt Company.
Paul had taken two Bibles on his trip, as presents, one for Pastor Mophet and the other for this man he was about to meet. Paul could then give the man his gift and say to him that their relationship was to be based on this Book. Trust was essential.
When Pastor and Paul walked into his office, the boss of the company had his whole production team waiting to meet them, along with his sister and her husband. Paul showed them all the designs, explained the Vision, and immediately the team knew this project was something special.
Joshua, the head of the Company explained that usually his company made T-shirts and sportswear for corporate businesses in South East Asia, and from the profits made Gospel T-shirts. Duvet covers would therefore be a whole new concept for them.
Paul, Pastor Mophet, Joshua and Rajan, the Production manager then went from Joshua’s office to meet Joshua’s parents in their home, and then on to visit all the factories that would be involved in the production.
Being a man of God and a true disciple of Christ, Joshua would have nothing to do with unrighteous or unethical cotton producers. That was another concern answered!
(Pictured left Joshua (in blue) with his parents, wife Joy, & children Amy and Emanuel). The four men spent the whole day together, talking over possibilities to reduce prices, yet maintain the highest standard of product.
Paul could see that Joshua’s heart was the same as his won: to produce these duvets covers at the highest standard, but at the cheapest price so that every Christian parent can have a godly duvet design on their children’s bed. So much was achieved that day!
Paul explains, “The only way I can describe it, was as if God took a thousand hours and compressed them into eight! Our hearts were knitted together.” Joshua is personally coordinating and overseeing the production of the duvets in India. Having met the man, Paul has complete peace and certainty that God arranged their working together.
